The album will feature eight previously unreleased tracks 'contemporized' for modern ears.

Nearly five years after his death, Michael Jackson fans will finally get a look inside the late singer's archive vault with the release of Xscape on May 13.

Epic Records CEO and chairman L.A. Reid executive produced the album, bringing aboard producers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain to "contemporize" the track, retooling the music to give it a more current sound while retaining what they believe to be Jackson's creative vision.

Xscape will feature eight songs never released during Jackson's lifetime.

Jackson, who died in 2009, "left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," Reid says in a news release.

The album takes its title from a song Jackson recorded with Jerkins during the sessions for his 2001 album Invincible. It's the album's sole track that was "contemporized' by the same producer who originally recorded it with the singer.

A deluxe edition of the album will include all the sourced recordings in their original forms. Pre-orders for the album will begin April 1.
