Goodbye Children

Whatever happened to childhood?
The bliss of uncaring
The ability of sharing
That childish daring
It's all gone now, the kids are growing
As fast as we want to remain young.

Goodbye children,
You're all growing too fast
And in the future you'll regret
And you'll never forget
The days you wish you'd had.

To fit in you have to
Wear those clothes, wear that make up
Listen to that music...
...meanwhile you're still nine years old.
You should be playing with dolls.

To fit in you have to
Wear those clothes, smoke that cigarette
Listen to that music...
...meanwhile you're ten years old.
You should be playing with your father.

Goodbye children,
You're all growing too fast
I know you'll look back
On those days you forced away
And wish you'd made them last.
