Hey guys, I haven't posted here in ages. I just thought I'd stop by cuz my day today at school was very MJ-fied
I'm currently in college obtaining my associate's degree in Medical Assisting. I'll be graduating with my degree in July of 2009. My dream and goal is to become a Radiology Technician (a.k.a. an "RT"). So I'm well on my way in my career in the medical field.
Anyway, I'm still a big time MJ fan! Since I'm in medical school, I'm busy so I can't post here as often as I used to. Well, today at school, since I'm getting a degree I have to take General Education classes and for the month of July and this week of August, I was in Speech and Psychology classes. Today was my Speech final and we had to do a speech that was informative, demonstrative and persuasive. So me, being the big MJ fan that I am, took the opportunity to talk about Michael Jackson and persuade the people in my class to stop judging him by his personal life and see him for who he is and respect him as the true King.
I was the first one to go up and give my speech outta the class today. I set up and started talking about Michael's childhood, about his abuse and all the trials and tribulations he had to endure. I wanted to inform them basically of the sh*t he's been through. I stated all the records he has broken, all the barriers he has overcome and demolished, all the respect he has earned as the true King of Music and Dance. The 750 million records he has sold worldwide. Everything.
Everyone loved it. I captured everyone's attention and interest. I feel I was successful at persuading them to look past the plastic surgery, the accusations and rumors and look at the talent and magic this man holds within himself.
For the demonstrative part, I decided I was gonna demonstrate the "Thriller" dance. Of course, I wasn't gonna do it myself. hahaha. What better way than to have the man himself do it instead? After all, he did choregraph the dance. So, I was originally gonna play just the dance section of the "Thriller" music video, but after seeing the high demand from my audience/classmates, they requested me to play the entire video. I asked my instructor if it was okay to play the whole thing (while everyone in the background was chanting "Thriller! Thriller!") and she agreed stating, "Yes, play it. I wanna see it myself." So I popped in my Number Ones DVD and played the entire "Thriller" video. Right when the beat and rhythm started when Michael and Ola Ray are walking outta the movie theater, people were dancing in their seats. Right when Michael started singing, EVERYONE started singing along. You could hear "It's close to midnight..." echoing the room. It was amazing how everyone is an MJ fan. Everyone was in awe.
After I showed the video, I went up to the DVD player and everyone in my class started applauding for me and even some stood up to give me a standing ovation for my speech. A guy named Jesse who sat in the back in my row said out loud for everyone to hear, "Beat that everyone! I'd hate to go after that amazing presentation. No one is gonna top that. She set the bar so high." I felt on top of the world.
So I guess what I'm saying is, everyone has a little MJ love in them whether they admit it or not. I'm proud to call myself an MJ fan. After all, I did download "Hold My Hand" from LimeWire just to have Michael's new song with Akon. I'm sorry I know it's bad to do that but I couldn't resist! Hahahaha. Much love to all MJ fans! Be proud!
