London, England (BANG) - New reports have been recently conducted on the death of Princess Diana. Investigators say that the princess' driver may not have been drunk on the night she died.
An interim report conducted by British detectives into the 1997 Paris car crash has insisted it would "not to be safe" to say Henri Paul was intoxicated.
The 50,000 word report, compiled by former Met Commissioner Lord Stevens, also says there is no evidence to show that Paul was a heavy drinker - something that was previously claimed..
More than 100 witness statements - including Paul's family, staff on duty at the Ritz hotel where Diana was staying and local Parisian restaurant owners - have been included in the report.
Of those the detectives spoke to, no one had seen Paul drinking. However, official investigator judge Herve Stepan previously ruled that Diana had died because "the driver of the vehicle was drunk."
Diana, 36, her lover Dodi Fayed, 42, and Paul, 41, where all killed after their car crashed in a tunnel.
The inquests into Diana and Dodi will not be heard until Lord Stevens' final report is submitted to the coroner in 2008.
