After winning a practice race, Speed Racer is offered a position on a team set to race in the Grand Prix. The company who employs his father, Pops Racer, a top engineer, owns the team. However, Speed declines because Pops doesn’t want him to become a pro. Meanwhile, Pops quits when his plans to improve the Mach 5 are rejected.
While Pops and Speed are driving home, a gang of motorcycle racers steals their plans. Trixie, in her helicopter, runs the gang off the road and the plans are recovered. Back at the cyclist headquarters, bad guy Acey Ducey shows up and offers to get the plans for “5,000 clams.” He confronts Pops but leaves empty-handed — Pops has hidden the designs on the Mach 5’s windshield using invisible ink.
Deciding to sell the Mach 5 so Pops can rebuild the engine, Speed visits Sparky, who suggests that Speed enter the Sword Mountain Race for a $5,000 prize. While Speed takes the Mach 5 out for a road test, “dirty driver” Duggery rams the car, causing it to blow a tire. In the garage, the car is repaired and is outfitted with Pops’ windshield containing the hidden designs.
The race begins. Ace and his gang of drivers go after the Mach 5. Speed figures out where the plans are hidden. To avoid getting his tires shredded by Ace’s gang, he hits the auto jack button. The Mach 5 is propelled over the guardrail.
Episode 2: “The Great Plan (Part 2)”
Speed resumes the Sword Mountain Race, neck and neck with Duggery. Ace and his gang approach from the opposite direction. Speed swerves off the road and uses his rotary saws to cut a path through the overgrown terrain. Trixie creates a temporary distraction, bombing the gang with smoke flares from her plane. At a cross-road, Duggery decides to take a “shortcut.” Speed knows that the road leads to a dangerous volcano and sets out to rescue him.
Meanwhile, Ace and his gang fire at Trixie. The plane plummets but Trixie escapes. At the edge of the volcano, Duggery is thrown from his car, and left dangling from a rock. Speed also ends up on a rock shelf after trying to rescue his competitor. They manage to reach safety but find that the gang surrounds the Mach 5, with Trixie taken hostage.
Spritle and Chim Chim, who have hidden in the Mach 5’s trunk, throw rocks at the gang while Speed, Duggery, and Trixie fight them off. Ace takes off in the Mach 5. Speed follows in hot pursuit in Ace’s racecar — “What kind of cheap car is this?” Speed catches up to him, jumps into the Mach 5, and wrestles the pistol out of Ace’s hand. With his foot, Ace accidentally hits the auto jack button, which propels him out of the car. Speed slams on the brakes. The car comes to a halt. Ace reappears. Speed hurls his helmet at the Mach 5, shattering its windshield. He kicks Ace off the cliff. Returning to the race, Speed passes Duggery and wins.

What do You mean, the plans to improve The Mach 5 have been declined.

At this time, we have no use for The Mach 5, even with improvements. If Speed doesn't drive The Mach 5, then its pointless. Nobody handles that car like Speed.
POPS RACER
When Speed is ready to race in The Grand Prix, He'll be certain Himself. If He has any doubt that He is ready, He is not ready. Confidence and Self-assuredness is Essential, being A Race Car Driver.

"DodgeBall" star Vince Vaughn has gotten Warner Bros. revved up again about "Speed Racer," the live- action adaptation of the Japanese cartoon series.
Project, which is being produced by Joel Silver and Richard and Lauren Shuler Donner, has emerged from a long pit stop after Vaughn pitched his take on the tale, one that casts him in the role of Racer X.
He's the long-lost but protective brother of the title character, the young driver who travels from race to race with his family. Vaughn joins the project as an exec producer, and will be in the pits as the studio hires a writer. David Lane Seltzer is also exec producing.
"Speed Racer" has remained a viable title at the studio, despite a decade of false starts. The pic almost got to the starting line with such directors as Gus Van Sant, Hype Williams, Alfonso Cuaron and Julien Temple -- the latter of whom had Johnny Depp ready to star before the vehicle stalled because the budget was too high.
Vaughn revived it by pitching a streamlined take that concentrated more on character and a family angle than budget-busting race scenes.
"I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid and I always liked the theme of the protective older brother who can't reveal his identity," Vaughn said. Vaughn has managed to work on both the drama and comic tracks, even as "DodgeBall" continues a comedy win streak that began with "Old School" and continued with "Starsky & Hutch." Vaughn will next go the dramatic route by playing the heavy in the "Get Shorty" sequel "Be Cool" at MGM, followed by the New Line comedy "Wedding Crashers," in which he and Owen Wilson raid weddings to pick up women. The older boy ran away from Home when He was Speed's age. But this doesn't mean that Pops ins't protective of Speed. On occasion, Pops will battle many a villin, putting to good use His skills as a former Wrestling Champion of The Westside Grunters and Groaners Club.
Undoubtedly, His Automotive Genius, His enthusiam, He was once hospitized with exhaustion while outfitting The Mach5.

1. EXT. - DAY - THE RACETRACK
You are watching the most advanced design and one of the fastest racing cars in the world. It’s called the Mach 5. Watch it really go.
2. EXT. - DAY - THE RACE TRACK

3. EXT. - DAY - THE RACE TRACK
After winning a practice race, Speed Racer is offered a position on a team set to race in the Grand Prix. The company who employs his father, Pops Racer, a top engineer, owns the team.
A TOP ENGINEER ROBERT EVANS
SPEED, Your a great racer. We'd like to ask You to join our team, and race in The Grand Prix.
POPS RACER
Speed, racing is fun, yet maybe You should wait a few years, get more practice. Those racers are professionals. It can be dangerous. I don't think I would like for You to race in The Grand Prix yet. Think about it Speed. Then decide.
4. EXT. - DAY - THE RACETRACK
However, Speed declines because Pops doesn’t want him to become a pro.
SPEED RACER
I'm sorry. At this time, I won't be racing in The Grand Prix. Possibly in the future.

5. INT. - EVENING - RACETRACK DRAWINGBOARDROOM
Meanwhile, Pops quits when his plans to improve the Mach 5 are rejected.
POPS RACER
What do You mean, the plans to improve The Mach 5 have been declined.
ENGINEER
At this time, we have no use for The Mach 5, even with improvements. If Speed doesn't drive The Mach 5, then its pointless. Nobody handles that car like Speed.
POPS RACER
When Speed is ready to race in The Grand Prix, He'll be certain Himself.
If He has any doubt that He is ready, He is not ready. Confidence and Self-assuredness is Essential, being A Race Car Driver.
6. EXT. - NIGHT - ON THE ROAD HOME
While Pops and Speed are driving home, a gang of motorcycle racers steals their plans.
POPS RACER

Those gang of motorcycle riders are after our plans.

Trixie, in her helicopter, runs the gang off the road and the plans are recovered.
SPEED RACER
Great Trixie, We've picked up the plans!!!!!!!!!
POPS RACER

8. INT. - NIGHT - ON THE ROAD HOME
Back at the cyclist headquarters, bad guy Acey Ducey shows up and offers to get the plans for “5,000 clams.” He confronts Pops but leaves empty-handed — Pops has hidden the designs on the Mach 5’s windshield using invisible ink.
ACEY DUCEY
Heh Pops, that new Race Car You built is bound to be the best on the road. With Your expertize, and My driving skills, I know We'll make the best team ever!!!!!!!!!
POPS RACER
These plans were manufactured especially for Speed, and only Speed.
ACEY DUCEY
Well, ahh, Pops, I've got $5,000.00 Clams right here, to give to You right now, for Your Design.
POPS RACER
You'd better get out of here, or $5,000.00 won't be enough to cover Your medical expenses. You think I'm some cheap designer.

9. INT. - DAY - SPARKY'S WORK AREA
Deciding to sell the Mach 5 so Pops can rebuild the engine, Speed visits Sparky, who suggests that Speed enter the Sword Mountain Race for a $5,000 prize.
SPEED RACER
Sparky, I've decided to sell The Mach5, so that Pops can build The New Racing Car He Designed.
SPARKY
SPEED!! You gonna sell The Mach5? There is The Sword Mountain Race soon, and The Grand Prize is $5,000.00.
SPEED

10. EXT. - DAY - SPEED'S ROAD TEST
While Speed takes the Mach 5 out for a road test, “dirty driver” Duggery rams the car, causing it to blow a tire.
SPEED
This Sword Mountain Race, will be a sure bet. I better go for a test drive, because practice makes perfect.

11. INT. - DAY - THE RACETRACK CAR GARAGE
In the garage, the car is repaired and is outfitted with Pops’ windshield containing the hidden designs.
12. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
The race begins.
SPEED
This is so exciting!! Even Dame Elizabeth Taylor is in attendance!! I've got to Win this Race for The Racer Family and Friends. Especially for Pops!!
13. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Ace and his gang of drivers go after the Mach 5.
ACE AND HIS GANG
Speed, Your not gonna win THIS Race!!!!!!!!!!

What morons. I can't think about them. Keeping My Mind on the road is what is important in winning this Race.
14. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Speed figures out where the plans are hidden. To avoid getting his tires shredded by Ace’s gang, he hits the auto jack button. The Mach 5 is propelled over the guardrail.
SPEED

Episode 2: “The Great Plan (Part 2)”
15. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACE TRACK
Speed resumes the Sword Mountain Race, neck and neck with Duggery.
16. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Ace and his gang approach from the opposite direction.
17. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Speed swerves off the road and uses his rotary saws to cut a path through the overgrown terrain.
18. EXT. - DAY- IN THE AIR IN TRIXIE'S PLANE
Trixie creates a temporary distraction, bombing the gang with smoke flares from her plane.
19. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
At a cross-road, Duggery decides to take a “shortcut.”
20. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Speed knows that the road leads to a dangerous volcano and sets out to rescue him.
21. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Meanwhile, Ace and his gang fire at Trixie.
22. INT. - DAY - TRIXIE'S PLANE
The plane plummets but Trixie escapes.
23. EXT. - DAY - IN THE "SHORTCUT"
At the edge of the volcano, Duggery is thrown from his car, and left dangling from a rock.
24. EXT. - DAY - IN THE "SHORTCUT"
Speed also ends up on a rock shelf after trying to rescue his competitor. They manage to reach safety but find that the gang surrounds the Mach 5, with Trixie taken hostage.
25. INT. - DAY - THE MACH 5
Spritle and Chim Chim, who have hidden in the Mach 5’s trunk, throw rocks at the gang while Speed, Duggery, and Trixie fight them off.
26. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Ace takes off in the Mach 5.
27. INT. - DAY - ACE'S RACECAR
Speed follows in hot pursuit in Ace’s racecar — “What kind of cheap car is this?”
28. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed catches up to him, jumps into the Mach 5, and wrestles the pistol out of Ace’s hand.
29. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
With his foot, Ace accidentally hits the auto jack button, which propels him out of the car.
30. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed slams on the brakes. The car comes to a halt.
31. EXT. - DAY - SIDE OF THE ROAD
Ace reappears. Speed hurls his helmet at the Mach 5, shattering its windshield. He kicks Ace off the cliff.
32. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Returning to the race, Speed passes Duggery and wins.

1. EXT. - DAY - THE SHIPPING YARD
Speed looks out into the distance, as He talks to Trixie.

He’s raced against some of the top racers in the world and has beaten them just like that.
2. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed adjust the windows, and turns down the stereo.
SPEED
Nobody’s ever seen them, and they don’t know who he is or where he’s from.
3. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed Racer, describing the Masked Racer
Speed and Trixie drive to the shipyard where the Masked Racer’s car is being unloaded for the upcoming Trans Country Race.
SPEED
The Masked Racer is very mysterious. He practically appeared out of thin air.
TRIXIE
Speed, He has to be from somewhere. Does He have any Family?
SPEED
Trixie, people don't even know about where He's from, who's His Family, who's on His Sports Team, not anything.
TRIXIE
What is known about Him?
SPEED
He's a great Racer Trixie, top of the line.
His car is being unloaded at the shipping yard, not far from here. Its a beaut.

Trixie hints to Speed that he should enter the race. He hesitantly agrees.

I've been thinking about that for awhile now, Trixie. Now that You mention it, I think that I will go over there and sign up today, after we leave the shipping yard.
TRIXIE

Their it is. They are unloading The Masked Racer's Car now. It is so beautiful, and powerful. Whoever He learned from about cars, He learned well. Now lets go sign up for that race.

At the Racer homestead, while watching TV, Pops learns that Speed has entered the race.

After winning a practice race, Speed Racer is offered a position on a team set to race in the Grand Prix. The company who employs his father, Pops Racer, a top engineer, owns the team. However, Speed declines because Pops doesn’t want him to become a pro. Meanwhile, Pops quits when his plans to improve the Mach 5 are rejected.
While Pops and Speed are driving home, a gang of motorcycle racers steals their plans. Trixie, in her helicopter, runs the gang off the road and the plans are recovered. Back at the cyclist headquarters, bad guy Acey Ducey shows up and offers to get the plans for “5,000 clams.” He confronts Pops but leaves empty-handed — Pops has hidden the designs on the Mach 5’s windshield using invisible ink.
Deciding to sell the Mach 5 so Pops can rebuild the engine, Speed visits Sparky, who suggests that Speed enter the Sword Mountain Race for a $5,000 prize. While Speed takes the Mach 5 out for a road test, “dirty driver” Duggery rams the car, causing it to blow a tire. In the garage, the car is repaired and is outfitted with Pops’ windshield containing the hidden designs.
The race begins. Ace and his gang of drivers go after the Mach 5. Speed figures out where the plans are hidden. To avoid getting his tires shredded by Ace’s gang, he hits the auto jack button. The Mach 5 is propelled over the guardrail.
Episode 2: “The Great Plan (Part 2)”
Speed resumes the Sword Mountain Race, neck and neck with Duggery. Ace and his gang approach from the opposite direction. Speed swerves off the road and uses his rotary saws to cut a path through the overgrown terrain. Trixie creates a temporary distraction, bombing the gang with smoke flares from her plane. At a cross-road, Duggery decides to take a “shortcut.” Speed knows that the road leads to a dangerous volcano and sets out to rescue him.
Meanwhile, Ace and his gang fire at Trixie. The plane plummets but Trixie escapes. At the edge of the volcano, Duggery is thrown from his car, and left dangling from a rock. Speed also ends up on a rock shelf after trying to rescue his competitor. They manage to reach safety but find that the gang surrounds the Mach 5, with Trixie taken hostage.

When Speed is ready to race in The Grand Prix, He'll be certain Himself. If He has any doubt that He is ready, He is not ready. Confidence and Self-assuredness is Essential, being A Race Car Driver.

"DodgeBall" star Vince Vaughn has gotten Warner Bros. revved up again about "Speed Racer," the live- action adaptation of the Japanese cartoon series.
Project, which is being produced by Joel Silver and Richard and Lauren Shuler Donner, has emerged from a long pit stop after Vaughn pitched his take on the tale, one that casts him in the role of Racer X.
He's the long-lost but protective brother of the title character, the young driver who travels from race to race with his family. Vaughn joins the project as an exec producer, and will be in the pits as the studio hires a writer. David Lane Seltzer is also exec producing.
"Speed Racer" has remained a viable title at the studio, despite a decade of false starts. The pic almost got to the starting line with such directors as Gus Van Sant, Hype Williams, Alfonso Cuaron and Julien Temple -- the latter of whom had Johnny Depp ready to star before the vehicle stalled because the budget was too high.
Vaughn revived it by pitching a streamlined take that concentrated more on character and a family angle than budget-busting race scenes.
"I've been a fan of the show since I was a kid and I always liked the theme of the protective older brother who can't reveal his identity," Vaughn said. Vaughn has managed to work on both the drama and comic tracks, even as "DodgeBall" continues a comedy win streak that began with "Old School" and continued with "Starsky & Hutch." Vaughn will next go the dramatic route by playing the heavy in the "Get Shorty" sequel "Be Cool" at MGM, followed by the New Line comedy "Wedding Crashers," in which he and Owen Wilson raid weddings to pick up women. 8. INT. - NIGHT - ON THE ROAD HOME
Back at the cyclist headquarters, bad guy Acey Ducey shows up and offers to get the plans for “5,000 clams.” He confronts Pops but leaves empty-handed — Pops has hidden the designs on the Mach 5’s windshield using invisible ink.

In the garage, the car is repaired and is outfitted with Pops’ windshield containing the hidden designs.

Speed figures out where the plans are hidden. To avoid getting his tires shredded by Ace’s gang, he hits the auto jack button. The Mach 5 is propelled over the guardrail.

Speed resumes the Sword Mountain Race, neck and neck with Duggery.
16. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Ace and his gang approach from the opposite direction.
17. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Speed swerves off the road and uses his rotary saws to cut a path through the overgrown terrain.
18. EXT. - DAY- IN THE AIR IN TRIXIE'S PLANE
Trixie creates a temporary distraction, bombing the gang with smoke flares from her plane.
19. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
At a cross-road, Duggery decides to take a “shortcut.”
20. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Speed knows that the road leads to a dangerous volcano and sets out to rescue him.
21. EXT. - DAY - ON THE RACETRACK
Meanwhile, Ace and his gang fire at Trixie.
22. INT. - DAY - TRIXIE'S PLANE
The plane plummets but Trixie escapes.
23. EXT. - DAY - IN THE "SHORTCUT"
At the edge of the volcano, Duggery is thrown from his car, and left dangling from a rock.
24. EXT. - DAY - IN THE "SHORTCUT"
Speed also ends up on a rock shelf after trying to rescue his competitor. They manage to reach safety but find that the gang surrounds the Mach 5, with Trixie taken hostage.
25. INT. - DAY - THE MACH 5
Spritle and Chim Chim, who have hidden in the Mach 5’s trunk, throw rocks at the gang while Speed, Duggery, and Trixie fight them off.
26. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Ace takes off in the Mach 5.
27. INT. - DAY - ACE'S RACECAR
Speed follows in hot pursuit in Ace’s racecar — “What kind of cheap car is this?”
28. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed catches up to him, jumps into the Mach 5, and wrestles the pistol out of Ace’s hand.
29. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
With his foot, Ace accidentally hits the auto jack button, which propels him out of the car.
30. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed slams on the brakes. The car comes to a halt.
31. EXT. - DAY - SIDE OF THE ROAD
Ace reappears. Speed hurls his helmet at the Mach 5, shattering its windshield. He kicks Ace off the cliff.

Returning to the race, Speed passes Duggery and wins.

Episode 3: “Challenge of the Masked Racer (Part 1)”
1. EXT. - DAY - THE SHIPPING YARD
Speed looks out into the distance, as He talks to Trixie.
SPEED
He’s raced against some of the top racers in the world and has beaten them just like that.
2. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed adjust the windows, and turns down the stereo.
SPEED
Nobody’s ever seen them, and they don’t know who he is or where he’s from.
3. INT. - DAY - THE MACH5
Speed Racer, describing the Masked Racer
Speed and Trixie drive to the shipyard where the Masked Racer’s car is being unloaded for the upcoming Trans Country Race.
SPEED
The Masked Racer is very mysterious. He practically appeared out of thin air.
TRIXIE
Speed, He has to be from somewhere. Does He have any Family?
SPEED
Trixie, people don't even know about where He's from, who's His Family, who's on His Sports Team, not anything.
TRIXIE
What is known about Him?

He's a great Racer Trixie, top of the line.
His car is being unloaded at the shipping yard, not far from here. Its a beaut.

Trixie hints to Speed that he should enter the race. He hesitantly agrees.
