Michael Jackson's Comeback Scuttled

Two Seas or not Two Seas? Michael Jackson has opted for the latter.

The self-proclaimed King of Pop has split with the Bahrain-based record label just five months after signing on, pushing his once thriving music career into an ever deepening hibernation.

Jackson's longtime spokeswoman Raymone Bain has confirmed that the Thriller purveyor is no longer affiliated with the label that he cofounded last April and which was touted to release his would-be comeback album and follow-up to 2001's underperforming Invincible.

The 48-year-old formed Two Seas Records with Bahrain royal family member Abdulla Hamad Al-Khalifa. Per reports, British music exec Guy Holmes would serve as CEO of the label and oversee production on Jackson's new disc, which had been aiming for a 2007 release.

However, a rep for Holmes' U.K. label, Gut Records, told the BBC that the deal between Holmes and Jackson had never been formalized.

The deep-sixing of the label deal also seems to put the kibosh on the long-gestating Hurricane Katrina benefit single "From the Bottom of My Heart," which Jackson has regularly proclaimed is nearly ready for release. The all-star track, which began production a year ago, was due to be released by Two Seas.

But we may not have heard the last of Jackson just yet.

The Gloved One has already formed the Michael Jackson Company to oversee his dwindling finances (memo to the bean counters: You can start by removing the personal magician from the payroll). The company may, per the BBC, also branch off to become a label to shepherd any future Jackson releases.

After a sojourn in the Middle East, Jackson is currently holed up in England. His little sister Janet confirmed to Oprah Winfrey Monday that he and his children had no immediate plans to return to the States.

I find this article sketchy because number one Janet didnt even say anything about him going or returning back to the states on Oprah. She said that she hasn't seen him, and that he is somewhere in Bahrain. (As I can remember) And anyone can put "Bain confirmed" in any article. Sure she may have confirmed that he has parted with Two Seas. The first 4 paragraphs seem okay, but after that it's sounds like opinion to me, and that crack about his magician, just gave it away for me. Bullsyt. To me, the tone of this article already had a biased to Michael Jackson from the columnist. And it's from EOnline too, and don't they have like alot of sorry reports? *shakes head* I dun know. Once one article is right, every other newspaper, mag etc get's a hold of it, and turns it around. And then by the time say, the majority of the fans hear it, you don't know who to believe! Unless of course you are subscribed to the right places and get the right info from people who are on the inside you know? It's like a bad game of Telephone!

No, it's not you. :p

The title the author gave it didn't really fit with the details. This has nothing to do with stopping his so-called "comeback", so that's why I changed it. :D

I agree. It's like these authors take the little bit they do know and twist it around into whatever they think will sound the most sensational..

27.9.06 Update: Michael Jackson recordings held hostage...by the Prince of Bahrain!

Following on from our story last week - when we broke the news that Jackson had ended his working relationship with Bahrain's Two Seas Records - it now comes to pass that the Prince of Bahrain has blocked the release of Jackson's long-awaited charity single - and is even refusing to hand over the master tapes.

According to a columnist at FOX News, Jackson has now broken his ties with Prince Abdullah, who has bankrolled the recording of Jackson's new single and accommodated the star during his stay in Bahrain. Estimates put the amount at $3m, with Abdullah expecting a certain level of creative control on the charity single "I Have A Dream".

In particular, a sticking point was the prince's request for more "female voices" on the record.

Jackson had already distanced himself from Gut Records chairman Guy Holmes, who was said to be heading the 2 Seas project.

I didn't post this as a separate news item, as it seems to be quite Friedmanish, LOL. But since it is said to be a followup to the soundgenerator article that was already posted on here, I thought I'd put it out there--as a FYI.

Who knows what the truth is, though? I guess we shall see! :idontknow :lol
