Michael Jackson returns to the U.S.

By ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press Writer 19 minutes ago

Since Michael Jackson forsook his Neverland Ranch, the King of Pop has popped up in some very unexpected places.

He's taken up residence in the Gulf state of Bahrain, in France and even in a castle in Ireland. He showed up in Augusta, Ga., to give a eulogy at James Brown's funeral, and materialized in London to accept an award for his contributions to the world of pop music. Lately he's been spotted in Las Vegas on his famed shopping sprees.

So where is he now?

In a rare conference call, the singer emerged with his spokeswoman Friday to confirm to The Associated Press that he is back in the United States after more than a year in self-imposed exile following his acquittal in a high-profile child molestation trial that ended in June 2005.

They also said he is on the comeback trail _ planning a pair of "fan appreciation events" in Japan in March, one of which will charge $3,300 for the opportunity to meet the Gloved One.

"I can confirm that he is in the United States," spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said. "We don't give out information regarding our client's whereabouts because of safety, and this is just an ongoing policy."

During the brief conference call, Jackson read a statement prepared for The Associated Press about his plans to visit Japan and allowed only one question: How are you?

"I'm fine, thank you," was his reply.

Jackson, one of the best-selling artists of all time, said he has chosen to come back to Japan because of the strong support he enjoys here.

"My friends and fans in Japan have been so supportive of me and my family for many, many years," he said. "My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry."

Broderick Morris, the promoter working the Japan side of Jackson's trip, said they have sold 220 of 300 tickets to a "platinum VIP party" on March 8 with Jackson, at $3,300 a pop. Guests will have dinner, get autographed photos and be able to "meet and greet" Jackson for 30 seconds to one minute, he said.

A less-exclusive party is scheduled for the following day. Jackson is not obligated to perform at either event, and promoters refused to comment on how much Jackson, 48, would be paid.

Jackson made his first official foray back into the spotlight after his acquittal with an appearance _ again, in Tokyo _ to accept MTV Japan's "Legend Award." Last November, he allowed the syndicated TV show "Access Hollywood" to film him in the studio, working on music with producer will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.

Oh yeah! I bet all those nay-sayers are eating their words right now!

Damn I wish I could go to Japan:(

I know, right? :lol Especially Diane Dimond, who was sooooo sure he would just hide underneath the bed in Bahrain for the rest of his life.. :lol Stupid biyotch..I hope Michael or his family or something throws him a nice, big, "Welcome Back" party at Neverland or something..and her overzealous, sensationalistic ass gets left at the front gate! :8-26-03yuk: haha..:lol

I always knew he would come back to this (HIS) country , for whatever length of time. It was more a question of when and where, not if..;)

And don't worry, hon, even if you can't make it to Japan with us, there's always Vegas! :wink hehehe...

Good he's back to where he belongs. :)
East or West, HOME is the best!! Well done Michael:D
His enemies are now made speechless! Michael is back in a STRONGER MOOD!!:bs

Just wish Michael would remain as simple as before, making his fans able to pay their way

:lol Michael is now making his events to be only accessible to the 'Rich & Famous'.

It seems now there's a high costs to pay attend any of his events, eg Japan Party £3300.
:idontknow I Earn Highly, but dont think I will waste such amount simply to support Michael.

I'ld rather donate it to Charity or Homeless or Refugees, it makes better sense:8-26-03ranting:

Cheers!

Well the first event on March 8th is mainly for business people and such, as he, I think, made a point to say in his conference call yesterday. But the 'Fan Appreciation Day' tickets were actually quite affordable! :D

I bet the money for the first day, or even from the second too, for that matter, will go to some sort of charity or something, at least part of it, if Michael has anything to do with it.

But you know he'll be stopping to greet his fans, even outside these events, too, if this is anything like practically all his other apperances..;) :lol :D

Michael returns to HIS home... for Neverland.. he said that he loves Neverland.. so there was no doubts that he returns for his home... Neverland is his place... he loves so much..

But as Katherine Jackson said, America don't deserve Michael... America's media are too much cruel to him and she was really angry about her country...
I hope now media will stop to insult him.. but I think that they will never stop.. Im a little worry that now american's media will start again to crucify him..... again... :eek:hnoyoudidnt

Katherine said that? I thought it was Joe, lol..

But so far, the media's coverage has been fairly positive or at least neutral about this here in America. And when he showed up at James Brown's funeral, they didn't even make very many wisecracks about it or the fact that that was the first real public appearance he did here (aside from the surprise Christmas Eve shopping trip, hehe). I think the fact that the AP went so far as to actually FILM that dude talking with Michael on the phone shows the enthusiasm..he was missed, whether they will admit it or not! :D :lol

Plus, as has been said and pointed out before, many times in the past..America is not the only place Michael has received negative press. Look at how a lot of the British press treated him at the WMAs, for example. I think the media, in general, worldwide, will always look for a way to spin things..as Michael said, "good news, to them, doesn't sell".

Bottom line is: Michael Jackson will go, do, and be wherever he feels like being, whether anyone else likes it or not. He cannot afford to let the misguided opinions of his critics rule him or dictate his life or his decisions...and he will not. I don't think he ever has..or ever will. He is his own person..and a VERY strong one at that! :8-26-03respect: He CAN go home..he did... and anyone who doesn't like that, will, quite frankly, have to deal with it! :p

But most of all, I'm just so happy to see him..well, HAPPY and doing what he loves best! Because THAT's what it's all about!
