Michael Jackson in mega deal at O2
- Could be as many as 50 dates starting June

Wednesday, 4th March 2009

MICHAEL JACKSON is set to announce a two-month stint at the O2 for this summer.

The legendary... singer is reckoned to have agreed to perform at the dome-shaped venue for what would be a 'residency' on the Las Vegas model.

Initially, the deal is thought to be for [Jackson] to play 10 dates at the O2 in June, but if ticket sales and his health hold up, the plan is to extend the run to as many as 50 performances, scheduled over two months.

Reports vary on the size of the fee Jackson has negotiated, but range from the whopping £50M to a super-sized double-whopper of £100M.

*Trying not to get TOO excited just yet, but...* EEEEEEE!!!1 :mf_w00t2: A frickin' residency?? My God, that would be TOO awesome! Which is why I've vowed not to get excited until/unless this is made official tomorrow, but DAMN, this sounds good! :p I think it's pretty safe to say SOMETHING big or important will be announced tomorrow, though. The set up here is just too much for there NOT to be, you know?

And lucky Londoners, getting to go to that press conference! :D Anyone from MJEOL going? If so, I expect a full report afterwards! ;) :8-26-03fruits_apple

I am happy Michael is here in the UK again, and also excited about the rumors in the press over the last few days.... But I am waiting for tomorrow to come and go until I get properly excited because nothing is official yet.

Hoping for the best. :)

If you're like me and want to fight while waiting on Mike, you can email Reuters (an allegedly unbiased news agency) and let them know how to feel about their latest asinine piece making it seem like all fans are wondering if the "shambolic figure" will show up. WTF?

Michael Jackson Hysteria Hits London

Fans gather ahead of announcement...
by Jason Gregory
Wednesday, March 04, 2009

Fans and members of the press have begun gathering outside Michael Jackson's hotel in London ahead of his “special announcement” tomorrow.

Jackson is widely expected to announce a series of concerts during a press conference at the O2 Arena.

The King of Pop checked into his hotel in West London last night (March 3rd) after arriving in the capital from Los Angeles by private jet.

Although he hasn't been seen since, this afternoon a Michael Jackson impersonator entertained photographers with a routine of some of the singer's legendary dance moves.

A number of fans have since arrived outside the hotel.

If confirmed, Jackson's concerts will be one of the most anticipated events of the 21st century.

The singer has not performed a full concert since he was cleared of child molestation charges in 2005. His last full tour, entitled History, took place in 1996 and '97.

Hi everyone

Tis a big day; Michael's announcement is going to be made at 4pm, the O2 Arena is even touting for fans to go up and witness Michael making the announcement. There's alot of hype everywhere about this at the mo, but the news being broadcast everywhere here in the UK is that he's going to be playing a "residency" at the O2 this summer. I assume from "residency" they mean that Michael will play a month or more of dates.

So... WOW!!! There's been times I never thought I'd see this day!

So as most of you know, London is a mere hop skip and a jump for me, I can be there in like 40 minutes. So I'd like to extend a welcome to who knows me from MJEOL thats coming over to the UK to see Michael to meet up. I'm assuming I'll be at more than one concert at this point!!!:lol :lol

Catch up with y'all later when the announcement is made. :p

Michael Jackson London O2 Arena ticket warning issued

Sites are already offering packages to see Jackson live

The Association Of Secondary Ticket Agents (ASTA) has issued a warning about bogus tickets to see Michael Jackson at the London O2 Arena this summer going on sale.

Jackson is making an announcement at the O2 Arena complex later today (March 5), and is expected to announce details of a summer residency at the venue.

However, some websites have already been offering tickets to the shows, despite none being announced yet, prompting the ASTA to issue a warning to punters.

"We are warning people not to buy tickets that are not yet on sale because it is unlikely that they will receive those tickets," ASTA chief Graham Burns told BBC 6music.

He added: "It's impossible when the dates haven't been announced to be selling tickets for something when there are no announced dates."

NME.COM will be bringing you coverage of Jackson's announcement as it happens — stay tuned to the website to find out details of dates, ticket information, and what Jackson has to say.

Plus, read NME.COM's blog on Michael Jackson's live comeback and have your say now.
